MWC2001 Overview Myth World Cup 2001: At a Glance
The Myth World Cup is an annual, two-team Myth tournament. Started on Myth: The Fallen Lords in 1998 by Butcher, it has become a Myth tradition. The MWC is a Double Elimination-style tournament, with a Qualifying Round. For in-depth descriptions of the Qualifying and Double Elimination rounds, please refer to those specific sections of the rules.

The Qualifying Round (QR)
The first round of the tournament is the "Qualifying Round". The 96 teams in the tournament will be divided into 16 brackets of 6 teams. Each team will play the other five teams from their bracket once. The QR will span three weeks: one match will be played in the first week, and two matches will be played in the second and third weeks. Once all five matches have been played, the top four teams from each bracket will move on to the Double Elimination Round.

The Double Elimination Round (DE)
The 64 teams that move on from the Qualifying Round will begin playing on the Double Elimination ladder. All 64 teams begin in the top bracket, and first-round opponents will be matched up according to their seed (seeds will be determined by Qualifying Round scores. Please refer to the scoring pages for more details). Teams that win their top bracket match move on to round 2, where they will play another round 1 winner. Teams that lose a top bracket match will be moved to the bottom bracket, where they must play two matches per week to continue halving their number. Play continues as such until only one team remains in the top bracket (the Champions), and one remains in the bottom bracket (the Challengers). The winners of the top and bottom bracket will play each other in the Grand Final, for the Myth World Cup title.
