12T defeats ABS, reach grand final - t o x y nSun, Aug 19, 2007
Earlier today, 12T avenged their DE4 loss to ABS and made sure the points were in their favor this time- winning 3 of 5 games, and playing to a tie in the ctf game. The 12 Tasks will advance to the Grand Final to play the ThunderCox and thus decide who will be crowned MWC07 champions and claim the $1000 prize.

The maps for the finals will be posted this evening, as will scores/stats for the BBF match.

Good luck and congrats to both finalists!
TCox reach finals, 12T advances to BBF - t o x y nMon, Aug 13, 2007
Last night the ThunderCox defeated ABS in a well played series of games to stay undefeated and claim a spot in the grand final. This will make it the third year in a row that TCox has made the grand final. Congrats and good luck!

ABS will come up against the 12 Tasks in the bottom bracket finals. This will be a rematch between the two teams. Earlier in the tournament, in DE4, ABS squeaked by 12T, winning the match by just 1 point despite losing 3 out of 5 games. The Tasks are looking to avenge that DE4 loss this weekend and send ABS packing for the summer. The winner will face TCox in the grand finals. Should be a great match!
Coming down the homestretch - t o x y nSun, Aug 12, 2007
This weekend the top 6 teams remaining thus far battle it out to see who our finalists and semifinalists will be. Yesterday, the 12 Tasks defeated Wu-Tang Clan to advance to the second stage of DE5. Their opponents will be CKCCS after the Cobra's defeated the Myth Blooper Allstars. 12T and CKCCS will play the deciding match soon to see who advances to the bottom bracket finals.

Up top, we have the mighty ThunderCox coming up against ABS to determine one of this year's finalists. They are playing their match as I type this. The loser of TCox/ABS will play the winner of the 12T/CKCCS match.

Films and scores will be posted as we get them, the sooner teams upload films, the sooner we can have results posted. If you are looking for immediate results, check out the forums.

The maps for the bottom bracket finals have already been posted. Grand Finals maps will be put up very soon, stay tuned!
Tournament Update - t o x y nTue, Jul 31, 2007
We're moving into the DE4 round and a few teams met the end of their tournament run this past weekend. We hope the departed teams enjoyed playing this year, and if theres an MWC next year, we hope to see you then!

I've posted the maps for the BB finals. This year, instead of having the first map played twice in the BB finals- we're making it 5 different maps. I've also made an adjustment for the DE5 maps. For DE5, Grave Reason to Swim/FR and Divide/Assassin have been switched. So, Divide allies will be played second, and Grave/FR will be played last.

The final note in this news post is about dummy accounts. To sum things up, it's not about when it's ok to do it- it's about violating the rules that we and playmyth.net have set and the violators facing consequences for their actions. We will not hesitate to eject players from the tournament once we have proof that they played on another account, on another team. We let some people share accounts due to the PMnet downtime. What we got in return was people taking advantage of our inability to prove people were dummying. That is now over. PlayMyth.net is on its way to being fully operational once again, and we've been communicating with PMAs. If you dummied for another team, you have seriously put your future and your real team's future in this tournament in jeopardy. Like it or not, this is how its going down.
DE4 Maps Posted - t o x y nTue, Jul 24, 2007
DE4 maps have been posted and we will also have maps for DE5 and the BB finals posted soon as well.

DE3 is this weekend and the critical time when scheduling will play a big role in the outcome of some matches. This is mostly due to the fact that teams in the bottom bracket will be playing 2 matches a week. I recommend that teams in the bottom bracket get in contact with their first opponent as well as teams that they could possibly play in their 2nd match (thats 3 total teams). Also, not everyone checks the scheduling forum. Do not use the scheduling forum instead of trying to e-mail the contact person for your opponent.
DE3 Maps + Dummy Accounts - t o x y nThu, Jul 19, 2007
I've posted the DE3 maps, you may find them listed on the Maps by Round page. DE3 maps include Hvergelmir, Calm, Mjilaphobia and Shattered Earth. I actually meant to post these yesterday but I dropped the ball (it slipped my mind before I went out). So my apologies everyone!

There is some concern over possible dummy account usage. We've received some PMs from players and have been talking about possible persons suspected of violating the rules, and we will continue to pursue this and gather as much info as possible. If we find out you are in fact dummying, as sure as you were born, we will eject you and other violators from the tournament and ban them from the site & forums.
DE1 Mini tourney Winners - nitroMon, Jul 16, 2007
Arz, rab, grim and chron outplayed all their opponents and won the DE1 mini tourney.

thanks to ducky and paris* for their help in running this !

Back to mwc now!

* paris, kings was a terrible map pick.
new post yay - nitroSat, Jul 14, 2007
DE1 mini tournament will take place on Sunday (tomorrow) at 3pm CDT.

We decided to cut the total number of teams to 12 and thus keep it competitive since only players from the top 8 teams will be playing. The teams have been formed, however if a player who is on one of the top 8 mwc teams hasnt registered he can be added on one of the teams until tomorrow noon (CDT).

3pools of 4 will be formed- for more information check out the forum.
DE1 mini tourney - nitroFri, Jul 13, 2007
3 (maybe 4) teams needed. Sign up now - You can sign up with whatever players you have (no mwc roster rule applies).

Just get 4 players together and sign up!
Scoring Change for DE2 - t o x y nThu, Jul 12, 2007
I had the wrong scoring noted for Krakatoa/Terries. My fault. =(

The correct scoring is 0.5/flag + 2.

Registration for the mini-tournament on Saturday, will end tomorrow. Please check the forums for more information.
DE1 mini tournament and Marius Logins - nitroTue, Jul 10, 2007
We are throwing a 4v4 mini tournament for the players of the top 8 teams which get a bye week in DE1. A new forum has been created for this event.

On another note, all players are urged to add to their personal pages their Marius logins.
If any teams plan on playing a MWC match over marius you need to notify me via a PM on the forums so that I can make sure that all players of those teams have provided their Marius logins.

Brackets will be up today so keep an eye on the brackets page to see your next opponent.
QR ---> DE - nitroMon, Jul 09, 2007
QR has ended and now we are moving into DE. Since we only have 24 teams this year, DE1 will be a bye week for the top 8 teams.

A reminder that the final day for roster changes will be this Wednesday, at 10pm CDT.
Rules Update - t o x y nSat, Jun 30, 2007
There will be a rules change/update concerning matches being played on Marius' server instead of PlayMyth.net. The rule is currently being finalized by staff and will be posted within the week. We strongly suggest that, if not done so already, everyone on your team registers an account on Marius (www.mariusnet.com) ASAP. It is likely will not allow people to use guest accounts by the time DE rounds get here. We're also making adjustments so that we have something in place about negotiations as to where to play the match. By default, matches are to be played on PlayMyth, unless a previous agreement between both teams to play on Marius has been reached.
Films missing - nitroMon, Jun 25, 2007
Please upload or re-upload the films for

CKCCS - MIC
WU TANG - Tank clan
TFS - LOLMWC

Also, ancrik uploaded the films in 3 seperate files- try to just put them all into one file next time guys :)

We will try and have scores up today/tomorrow.
Note about the games - nitroFri, Jun 22, 2007
Please make sure that you use the screen names that appear on your team roster when playing your matches. This will ensure that the correct statistics will be given to the right players.

Furthermore, games should be played under "normal" difficulty settings unless otherwise stated.

Have fun!
Good Luck! - t o x y nWed, Jun 20, 2007
QR play begins this weekend. I picked out timezones for teams that had not yet done so. Fallbacks are now posted on the brackets page. If your team needs to reschedule for a time other than the noted fallback, I suggest starting negotiations ASAP. There is also a scheduling forum available to better ease the process.

We ask that films be uploaded as soon as possible. Regardless of who volunteers to take responsibility to save films, I suggest as many people as possible in the game save them.

Good luck to all teams, and remember: Have Fun. :)
QR Pools Posted - t o x y nSun, Jun 17, 2007
All QR pools are posted and tournament play will officially begin next weekend (June 23rd & 24th). I reccomend teams start making scheduling plans ASAP. Not everyone can play at the noted fallback time, so planning ahead will better help things. Discuss scheduling even with your 2nd and 3rd week opponents, especially considering the July 4th holiday in between week 2 and 3.

If a match doesn't have a noted fallback time, it's because one or both teams haven't set their preferred time zone (Team Page: Edit Info). If your team captain(s) have not done so yet, please have them/he/she do it immediately. I'll check through the QR pools over the next few days to see if there are any missing fallback times. If a team fails to set their time zone by Monday night, I'll pick one for them.
QR Pools - t o x y nSat, Jun 16, 2007
QR Pools will be posted no later than tomorrow afternoon. I worked on the QR Pool scripts last night to see if I could figure it all out and test everything. The only things I have left to do is adjust some of the CSS stuff to make things look a little better. Otherwise, I just need to put the teams in their respective pools (the staff has already determined who's in what bracket already). We are waiting because we have 25 total teams and are giving 2 teams an extra day to figure out a possible merger to solve the unbalance. We have some alternatives if no agreement is reached. We'll contact teams in private as to what those alternatives are.

I did make fixes for the Team and Player mod pages. The selection buttons work now, so I need for all team captains to pick their team's preferred time zone. This is important because the scripts determine the schedule and fallback times for matches. Please do this ASAP. If you don't do it, I will pick a time zone for your team.
Registration is Closed - t o x y nWed, Jun 13, 2007
I kept the registration area open for a few extra hours to see if there was any more last minute teams to sign up. At the end of registration, the total amount is 26. This is a little troubling since we can't split pools evenly, so we're discussing some possible alternatives (such as possibly asking certain teams to merge). We will work quickly on this so there won't be any delays, and we'll have pools up very soon. Team TAs have already begun to be posted, so stay tuned to your team pages to see how you rate by MWC staff standards.

We're going to be testing a few things on the site to double-check that they work. So if you see something that's a miss on the site, don't be alarmed. It's just us working/testing.

If you are a player that hasn't found a team, I'd like to note that it is not too late to join a team. You cannot register your own team, but you can still join a registered team. So don't give up yet if you haven't been able to find a team.
Registration Deadline and the QR - t o x y nSun, Jun 10, 2007
We're going to close registration on Tuesday night, June 12th. We'll probably end up with about 24-26 teams total, depending on a few things. QR pools and TAs for teams will be posted shortly following the close of registration. QR play will begin the following week.

Regarding the server situation, as of now, we will proceed to keep things on PlayMyth.net's server. However, we do reccomend that players register a Marius.net account anyway. A switch to Marius before the tournament starts isn't out of the question yet, and if we do decide to switch, we will require all players to provide an Mnet login.

After some discussion and review of the poll in the forums about the July 4th holiday, we have decided there will be no break during either weekend (July 4th is on a Wednesday).
Adjustments - t o x y nTue, Jun 05, 2007
Nitro and I have fixed the group permission issues with the forum and we can now offer teams their own private discussion areas. Just PM me a request for a team forum and it'll be done.

Although we haven't made a final decision, registration will most likely come to a close early next week. We know there are a few people floating around out there. This is your first notice to get on the ball and register a team before it's too late. We only need 2 more teams to have a total of 24, but 28 would be fantastic.

Also, we've adjusted scoring for the Dun Caric game in DE1 to balance things out a little more.
Site Content Updates - t o x y nMon, Jun 04, 2007
Thanks to some needed help from Cave, and some added staffers, there will be some new juicy content for you to feast your eyes on. TAs will start to surface both for teams and players this week. Feature articles will also start being posted soon.

I'd also like to mention that the user articles feature has been working properly. Put those amazing writing skills to work and submit some content!
QR Maps Posted - t o x y nSun, Jun 03, 2007
I've posted the maps for the QR and DE1. Please review them, download any you might not have already, and start practicing!

We're up to about 21 teams and hoping to grab at least 28. I will be posting some PR stuff for the tournament soon. Please continue to help spread the word so we can fill up those last few empty spots!

edit: The time limit on Grilling Grounds/CTF has been lowered to 14 minutes.
Progress - nitroWed, May 30, 2007
As the technical issues are being resolved we need to set the registration deadline and decide the structure of the brackets. That is why you should help us out and register your teams as soon as you can so we can have a general idea of what to expect.

Maps for QR and DE1 will be posted shortly and the server `debate` (Marius or PM) will be addressed too. No matter what we choose, rest assured that on both servers the players will have the option to register accounts.

In the meantime, we need 3-4 more film scorers-send me a PM on the forums if you have time to help. Also, we have 2-3 feature article columns so far and it would be nice to see one or two more. If you have an idea for a column, contact me.
Updates - Wight SlayerWed, May 30, 2007
I made a few updates this morning.  You should be able to edit your team & player info now.

This weekend I am going to be making a full pass on missing links that disappeared because of the new design.  I'll find a new place for the important ones.

If you have any trouble with the site please post on the forum and I'll take a look at what I can do.
Account Issues - t o x y nThu, May 24, 2007
There is some confusion going on, even for me, with the log in/cookies stuff. If you are trying to login using your PlayMyth.net account, it won't work. The fix right now is to just register a new account (on menu: Main Menu > REGISTER), then log in with that info.

I'm not even close to being familiar with Wighty's coding and framework stuff, I'm still learning it. Hopefully all the issues will be cleared up by this weekend when we both have time to sit down and mess with stuff.
MWC07 Site Goes Live - t o x y nThu, May 24, 2007
Welcome everyone! Wighty and I still have plenty of work to do around the site, but it is functional for the most part. Registrations should work, and the forums as well. Contest wise, there are things here and there (like the map picks for the entire tournament), that need to be updated. When I get a list of maps/games, either Wighty of myself will update the site accordingly.
