Myth the real man's way. - Myrkridon
Looking at the matches for this tourney, it's painfully obvious that this will be the most boring round ever. Out of all the power teams, or wannabe power teams, not a single one is playing each other. Hell, the spotlight match of the week is The Jenova Project vs The Fallen Bishops. I think that says it all.
Well I think it will be a more interesting round if I singlehandedly turn all the teams who read this article into power teams...or just make the good teams do Real Man's Strats.
Let's start with the most overplayed map in Myth 2 history: Desert. Don't be fooled by the fact that the game type used in this tourney is Stampede; it's actually identical to terries, just like all the other game types on this wonderful map. Remember MWC99, back when people didn't used to always max pus and run 3 flanks every single game? Those were the good ol' days, back when people used to run all their warriors in large clumps right by pools with wights in them. Oh wait, they still do. Never mind.
Anyway, just remember that real men don't pus. Pus tends to dominate all the other useful units on desert (the bowmen, dwarves, and warriors), which is why everyone always maxes pus. Now, you wish to play Real Man's Myth, you can do one of three things. You can either spend the trading points you would have used to buy pus on a big useless gholpack, a big useless pack of dwarves, or a useful-only-on-complete-idiots-like-all-the-people-who-still-play-this-game pack of wights. Take your pick. Don't worry, good teams; your opponent this round will charge all his units right into your thrall, dwarves, and wights anyway and you'll still win 30 pigs to zero, so you might as well use this strat.
Unfortunately there's only one other map this round where it's possible to do real man's strats, and that's Trow. Let's all forget about Cracks, since pretty much any strategy can work for it, which means that everyone hates it and won't play it. Also, there's no river in the middle, and there's no sand. It is therefore not Desert and people get confused.
On Trow, to be a real man you simply have to get no trow. This will let you buy maximum soulless and locks, and that's really all you need this round, good teams. Your first-round opponent will be so busy rushing all their trow into your soulless yelling "LOL THEY DIDN'T GET TROW WHAT NEWBIES" that you'll end up with a big % advantage and win the game. Now now...don't start saying "Myrk, you're sh**ting me" until your QR match is over. You'll see what I mean.
I'd like to finish this article with predictions. Unlike what other people are doing, which is posting a long list of all the matches and giving detailed analysis on why team A will beat team B, I'll just say that the higher-seeded team will beat the lower-seeded team. Same predictions as everyone else with a tenth of the effort.
